Category Wise Total Post
Reservation is given post-wise in the official advertisement itself — each of the 20 posts carries its own UR / SC / ST / OBC (NCL) / EWS / PwBD break-up, and the advertised vacancies include backlog reserved vacancies. Candidates must check Advt. No. 09/2026 for the exact category break-up of the post they are applying for — no category figure has been guessed in this article. The number of posts may be increased or reduced at the discretion of GSL management.
Age Limit
Age is counted as on 30 September 2026. For most posts the upper age limit for UR/EWS candidates is 33 years. The Assistant Superintendent (Hindi Translator) post is reserved for OBC (NCL) with an upper age limit of 36 years, and Steward cum Cook carries a limit of 41 years for UR/EWS candidates. Relaxation: OBC (NCL) 3 years, SC/ST 5 years, and Ex-Servicemen, Ex-Agniveer and PwBD candidates as per Government of India rules. After all relaxations, the maximum age on the cut-off date must not exceed 56 years.

The pay is a consolidated monthly amount. Statutory deductions (Provident Fund, ESI, Income Tax) apply, and medical, canteen, welfare facilities and Group Personal Accident Insurance are provided as per GSL rules.
Selection Process
Selection is in three steps: (1) Written Test — Computer Based Test or Pen and Paper test, normally 25% General Aptitude questions and 75% subject / trade questions; (2) Document Verification; (3) Skill / Trade Test. Weightage: posts at Sr. No. 1 to 3 — written 50%, skill test 50%; Sr. No. 4 to 10 — written 40%, skill test 60%; Sr. No. 11 to 20 — written 30%, skill test 70%. Minimum qualifying marks: 40% for General / EWS and 35% for SC / ST / PwBD / OBC (where the post is reserved for the respective category), in both the written and skill tests. Outstation candidates who clear the written test and qualify for the skill test are paid to-and-fro 2nd sleeper class rail fare as per GSL rules.
Documents Required
Passport-size colour photograph (below 450 KB), signature on plain white paper with black ink (below 450 KB), SSC certificate as date-of-birth proof (500 KB), educational qualification mark sheets and certificates (1 MB), caste / disability / Ex-Servicemen certificate if applicable (500 KB), experience certificates (1 MB), and Aadhaar Card (500 KB). Scanned copies should preferably be in JPG or PDF format and clearly readable.

- Pay the application fee online through SBI e-pay (Rs. 200, if applicable) and submit the form.
- Download and print the auto-generated application form — it is required at the subsequent selection process. A separate application must be submitted for each post applied for, and the form cannot be edited after submission.
