Application Fee

Fee is payable online only through the payment gateway integrated with the RRC/CR website (Debit Card / Credit Card / Internet Banking / UPI / Wallet). If fee is deducted but the application cannot be downloaded, use the “Verify Payment” option before paying again.

Post Name & Education Qualification

Trades include, among others: Fitter, Electrician, Welder (Gas & Electric), Carpenter/Wood Work Technician, Machinist, Turner, Mechanic Diesel, Mechanic Motor Vehicle, Electronics Mechanic, Instrument Mechanic, Computer Operator and Programming Assistant (COPA), Programming and Systems Administration Assistant, Painter (General), Sheet Metal Worker, Mason, Blacksmith, Pipe Fitter/Plumber, Cable Jointer, Wireman, Mechanic Auto Electrical and Electronics, Mechanic Communication Equipment Maintenance, Mechanic Radio and TV, Information and Communication Technology System Maintenance, Stenographer (English/Hindi shorthand), Tailor/Sewing Technology/Dress Making and other notified technical trades. Not every trade is available in every cluster or unit — candidates must check the trade-wise slots in the official notification before choosing a cluster.

Candidates who are currently undergoing, or have already undergone, apprenticeship training should not apply. Only one application is allowed; multiple applications with different particulars will be summarily rejected. Candidates must choose only one cluster and give unit preferences within that cluster only.

Total Post

2861 training slots in total. The number of slots is provisional and RRC reserves the right to increase or decrease them. PwBD and Ex-Servicemen slots are included within these totals, not in addition to them.

Detailed trade-wise and community-wise (UR/OBC/SC/ST) allocation for each workshop and unit is given in the official notification. Mumbai units include Carriage & Wagon (Coaching) Wadi Bunder (258), Matunga Workshop (547), Parel Workshop (272), Sr. DEE (TRS) Kurla (188), Sr. DEE (TRS) Kalyan (118), Signal & Telecom (95), Kurla Diesel Shed (60), Kalyan Diesel Shed (50), Engineering (45), S&T Workshop Byculla (42), Personnel (28) and Track Machine Organisation STMD/KYN/BB (9).

Age Limit

Candidates should have completed 15 years and should not have completed 24 years of age as on 03 November 2026. Eligible date-of-birth ranges (both dates inclusive): UR — 03/11/2002 to 03/11/2011; OBC — 03/11/1999 to 03/11/2011; SC — 03/11/1997 to 03/11/2011; ST — 03/11/1997 to 03/11/2011. Relaxation: SC/ST — 5 years; OBC — 3 years; Persons with Disability — 10 years; Ex-Servicemen — up to an additional 10 years to the extent of service rendered plus 3 years, subject to a minimum of 6 months service at a stretch.

Salary Details

Selected apprentices will receive a stipend of Rs. 9,600 per month during the training period. Training duration is 1 year for all notified trades. Hostel accommodation is not provided. Completing apprenticeship does not guarantee employment or automatic absorption into Railway service, and the Railway administration is not obligated to offer a permanent job after training. A Contract of Apprenticeship Training must be entered into before the programme begins (by the guardian, for minors).

Selection Process

Engagement will be on the basis of a merit list prepared from the simple average of percentage of marks in matriculation (with minimum 50% aggregate marks) and ITI marks in the trade applied for. For ITI marks, the average marks in the consolidated statement for all semesters, or marks in the Provisional National Trade Certificate issued by NCVT/SCVT, will be reckoned. There is no written examination. In case of a tie, the older candidate is preferred; if dates of birth are also the same, the candidate who passed matriculation earlier is preferred. The final merit list is prepared cluster-wise, unit-wise, trade-wise and community-wise. Candidates finally enlisted are subject to verification of original testimonials and a medical certificate as per the annexures in the notification. No centralised merit list will be formed; document verification will be held in the opted Divisions/Units as per the cluster in the application.

How to Apply

1. Visit www.rrccr.com and open the online application for Notification No. RRC/CR/AA/2026. 2. Fill personal details/BIO-DATA carefully — name, father’s name and date of birth must exactly match the matriculation certificate. Candidates should be in possession of an Aadhaar Card (12-digit number; enrolment ID where applicable; other valid government ID for Jammu & Kashmir, Meghalaya and Assam applicants). 3. Choose only one cluster and give unit preferences within that cluster. 4. Upload a colour photograph (3.5 cm x 3.5 cm, taken not more than three months before application, JPG/JPEG) and required certificates as per the notification. 5. Pay the fee online (if applicable) and download the application form. Preserve the Registration Number issued on submission and keep a printout — it is required at document verification. Submit well before 02 December 2026 (05:00 PM); no change/edit is allowed after final submission, and applications by post or offline mode will not be accepted.
