PET 2025 is compulsory for every post: only candidates who appeared in the Preliminary Eligibility Test (PET) 2025 and have been issued a PET 2025 scorecard by the Commission can apply. Candidates must also be Indian citizens and must hold the required qualification by the last date. A two-year Territorial Army service or an NCC “B” certificate gives preference for many posts.

Category Wise Total Post
Category-wise distribution is given post-wise in the annexures of the two official advertisements. Candidates must check the advertisement of their branch (Mechanical 24-Exam/2026 or Electrical 25-Exam/2026) for the exact UR / OBC / SC / ST / EWS break-up of the post they are applying for — no category figure has been guessed in this article. Age relaxation for SC, ST and other notified categories is as per Uttar Pradesh Government rules, and State Government employees get up to 5 years’ relaxation.
Age Limit
For most posts the age limit is 18 to 40 years. For Technical Assistant, Research Assistant, UPCIDC and Assistant District Panchayati Raj Officer posts it is 21 to 40 years. Age is counted on the date fixed by each department’s rules, mostly 01 July 2026. Relaxation for reserved categories is as per UP Government rules.
Salary Details
Most JE posts are in Level-6: Rs. 35,400–1,12,400. PWD and UPRNN JE posts are in the Rs. 9,300–34,800 scale with Grade Pay Rs. 4,200. UPSRTC Vidyutkar and Mechanic posts are in Level-5 and Assistant Storekeeper in Level-4 (Rs. 5,200–20,200 scale). The exact pay scale of each post is as given in its advertisement.
Selection Process
There is no interview. Selection is in three steps: (1) Shortlisting on the basis of the PET 2025 normalised score, category-wise; (2) Written examination — objective-type papers based on the candidate’s engineering stream (100 questions, 100 marks, 2 hours; three parts — technical subjects of the branch, computer & IT concepts, and general information about Uttar Pradesh; 1/4 mark negative marking for each wrong answer); (3) Document verification, at which stage post preference is taken.
Documents Required
PET 2025 registration number and scorecard, Diploma certificates and mark sheets, High School certificate (where prescribed), Electrical Supervisory Licence (for Vidyutkar posts), caste / EWS certificate if applicable, domicile and photo ID as per the notification. Photo and signature are taken from the candidate’s PET record.

- Log in with your PET 2025 registration number and the OTP sent to your registered mobile or email.

- Tick the declaration, submit with the verification code, and pay the Rs. 25 fee online or by SBI e-challan.
- Download and print the submitted form. The form is final only after successful fee reconciliation.
